Didn't have tickets as often as I would have liked last year, but whenever I did, Alfonso Soriano always seemed to give me my money's worth. Now, Washington Nationals fans will only be able to say we knew him when...As in when he got 46 home runs and 41 stolen bases in his one season with us.
After a huge bidding war, Soriano has decided to go with the Chicago Cubs. He claims he likes the "electric atmosphere" of Wrigley Field, and he's very motivated by the challenge of bringing a championship to those perennial losers. Still, I don't think the $136 million for eight years hurt, do you?

Alfonso Soriano is about to 31 years old in January. And to shell out that kind of money for him over 8 years, is absolutely ridiculous. The Washington Nationals will win in the long run on this deal, I don't foresee getting 40 stolen bases from Soriano when he's 37.
